The beginning of the Rotary Club of Metro Surigao can be traced to a series of planning sessions and meetings which started December 1984, facilitated by the Rotary Club of Surigao City led by their President Boy Mendoza and Special Governor's Representative Boy Yuipco. The first meeting of the provisional dub was held on January 21, 1985 attended by 24 prospective members who became its charter members when the club was finally admitted to the Rotary International on July 2, 1985.
The club of today meets every Friday 7:00 PM at the Hotel Tavern, Surigao City. Its territory is shared by the Rotary Club of Surigao City and covers the mainland municipalities and the islands of Sur--igao and Bucas Grande all of Surigao del

To date, the club's membership has increased to 40 active members with nine Paul Harris Fellows and one Sustaining Paul Harris Fellow.It has three sister clubs, the Rotary Club of Makati Central, Rotary Club of Metro Cebu and Rotary Club of East Davao.
It recently sponsored the charter of the newest Rotary club in Surigao,the Surigao Midtown Jewels, an all-ladies club. In May 2003, RC Metro Surigao hosted the 29th District Assembly (DISTAS)-one of unsurpassed success in District 3860's history.
